Keep Lifting ("the app") is a personal fitness tracking app. This page explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text). Gender and age are optional and only used to personalize your own experience.
- Workout data: the exercises, sets, reps, weights, duration, and notes you log, plus your equipment setup — this is the core data the app is built to track for you.
- Usage data: basic analytics on which pages and features you use (e.g. page views, button clicks), used only to understand how the app is used and improve it.
- Push notification data: if you enable notifications, your device's push subscription endpoint is stored so we can deliver the notification types you've opted into (e.g. streak reminders, friend requests). You can disable any notification type, or all of them, at any time in Settings.
- Social data: if you choose to use friends, group streaks, the activity feed, or the leaderboard, your name, handle, and the content you choose to share (workout highlights, recaps) become visible to the other users you interact with there. These features are entirely optional.
- Imported data: if you choose to import a Strava export file, only the activity data from that file you upload is read and added to your workout history — the app does not maintain an ongoing connection to your Strava account.
- Apple Health data: if you connect Apple Health in the iOS app, the app reads (never writes) your cardio workouts (type, date, duration, distance), heart rate during those workouts, active calories, and daily step counts. This is used only to add those workouts to your history and show your stats and steps in the app. Health data is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with third parties or other users. You can disconnect in Settings → My Data, and revoke access entirely in the iPhone Settings app → Health → Data Access & Devices.
How we use your information
Your information is used solely to provide and improve the app's own features: tracking your workouts, computing your progress and muscle recovery, powering the optional social features you choose to use, and sending the notifications you've opted into. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers we operate directly. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored or transmitted in plain text.
Your choices and rights
- You can download a copy of your workout data as a CSV file at any time from Settings → My Data.
- You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account.
- You can opt out of any or all notification types from Settings → Notifications.
- You can block another user to prevent them from seeing your activity or contacting you.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children, and registration requires a minimum age of 13.
